When the fruits of the Areca palm are ripe, the leaves fall off. This is a natural process. All it needs for the leaves to stay in shape is heat. No glue. No additives. Just heat. Once used, give back the plate to nature. It will decompose and feed its nutrients to the earth again.

Our palm leaf plates are made by independent women collectives in the rural parts of India. The women manage themselves, they are their own bosses. This ensures that they work under safe conditions for a fair wage. And have a healthy work-life balance.

We encourage you to use reusable dishware whenever possible. Yet, sometimes ceramic dishes are just not an option. Like at festivals or an outdoor event. Because they are heavy, fragile, and there is no possibility to wash them properly. Then our leaf plates are the natural way to go.

Takeaway
